Corbin Harney Nevada Test Site Protest Photograph Albums

Abstract

The Corbin Harney Nevada Test Site Protest Photograph Albums (1995-1997) are comprised of three photograph albums documenting the life and spiritual, environmental, and political activism work of Corbin Harney, elder and spiritual leader of the Newe ("the People") Western Shoshoni Indians. The majority of the photographs are focused on the anti-nuclear protest demonstrations by the Shundahai Network at the Nevada Test Site during the 1990s.

Thomas Clark Professional Papers

Abstract

The Thomas Clark Professional Papers (1950-1998) contain materials from his tenure as a Professor of English at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), which are divided into two series. The gaming research series includes newspaper clippings, correspondence, brochures, bulletins and articles. Also included are book chapters, a glossary of terms used in the casino industry, and gambling guides. In the linguistics and teaching series there are research files, articles, speeches, correspondence, interviews, multimedia, workshops, and conference materials.

International Food Service Executives Association Records

Abstract

The International Food Service Executive Association (IFSEA) Records contain the organizational records from the IFSEA dating from 1916 to 2010. Included are meeting programs and minutes, menus, conference reports and proceedings, financial reports, newsletters, award certificates, scrapbooks, and stewards and caterers records focusing on the hospitality and food service industry. Materials are from both national and regional branches of the organization and include records from the United States military, with whom IFSEA has partnered with since the 1960s.

David Fluke Papers on Las Vegas Entertainers

Abstract

The David Fluke Papers on Las Vegas Entertainers consists of the notebooks of David Fluke, a Las Vegas, Nevada resident whose hobby was documenting entertainers and shows on the Las Vegas Strip from 1946 to 1981. His notebooks feature handwritten lists of entertainers' show dates and lounge acts, and include dates for the Las Vegas debuts of numerous performers. The collection also contains celebrity trivia and biographical sketches of various Las Vegas entertainers.

Nevada Political Buttons Collection

Abstract

The Nevada Political Buttons Collection contains campaign buttons from 1972 to 2000. The collection includes buttons for political candidates at the federal, state, and local levels, including Bill Clinton and Al Gore for President of the United States, Harry Reid for United States Senate from Nevada, Bob Miller for governor of Nevada, and various candidates for Nevada's state legislature and other elected positions.

Harmon Family Papers

Abstract

The Harmon Family Papers consist of the political and personal correspondence of Las Vegas, Nevada pioneer Harley A. Harmon from 1910 to 1934, and his son, Harley E. Harmon, from 1950 to 1966. The collection also includes correspondence, personal papers, and photographs of Harley L. Harmon from approximately 1950 to 1999. Also included are family scrapbooks with wedding announcements, photographs, birthday cards, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera.

Wayne Newton Fan Club Records

Abstract

The Wayne Newton Fan Club Records contain photographs, newspaper clippings, and magazine articles from 1969 to 1988. In addition to the documents that follow Wayne Newton's career, there are also video cassettes, vinyl records, picture books, and programs that provide insight to this time in the entertainment industry.
