The Thalia Dondero Political Papers (1934-2003), contain correspondence, pamphlets and reports used by Dondero to conduct official business, as well as information on county and city budgets, social and health services, liquor and gaming, planning, public works, environmental impact reports and a large section on water management. Dondero served as a Clark County Commissioner for twenty years and engaged in numerous other civic and political activities.
The Southern Nevada Women's Political Caucus Records (1981-1992) document a chapter of the National Women's Political Caucus. It was active in child care issues and in aiding women who aspired to be elected to public office. Included are chapter bylaws, minutes, newsletters, and information on local child care and the Act for Better Child Care Services of 1987. Also included are records of forums, conferences, dinners, newspaper advertisements, financial records, and membership information. There is national information, including a bumper sticker, and a poster.
The Patrick Meiklejohn Collection of Nevada Hotel and Casino Ephemera (1970s-1994) consists of 117 decks of casino and airline playing cards and casino marketing material and ephemera, including hats, keychains, bags, pens, napkins, and hotel room courtesy items.
The Sherwin "Scoop" Garside Papers comprise photographs and documents of Las Vegas Review-Journal writer and photographer Scoop Garside. The collection dates from 1930 to 1983 and includes publicity photos of the Old Spanish Trail, correspondence from the Nevada State Centennial Commission, history of mines (Tonopah, Goldfield, Bullfrog), copies of articles written by Garside, family photos and general photographs of people and places, negatives of Las Vegas, Nevada; Searchlight, Nevada; St. George, Utah; and several unlabeled negatives.
The Richard B. Taylor Papers (1920-1993) document Richard Taylor's career and interests as a longtime Las Vegas, Nevada businessman and local historian, including his work as an executive at the Hacienda Hotel and Casino. The materials also include maps, development plans, and local publications for the Nevada communities of Laughlin and Mount Charleston, as well as publicity and promotional materials for these projects. As an amateur historian, Taylor also collected information on Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Mount Charleston.
The John Hamilton Collection on Keno Pay Charts (1958-1991) contains keno slips, pay out charts, and odds calculation sheets from 168 casinos in Nevada. There is also a small amount of other materials such as napkins and placemats.
The Las Vegas Housing Development and Apartment Complex Brochures Collection contains sales brochures for Las Vegas, Nevada housing developments and apartment complexes from 1980 to 1992. The majority of the brochures include prices, floor plans, and artistic renderings of the various models being offered, as well as a map showing the location of the complex within the greater Las Vegas area.
The Beth Daniels-Henderson Collection (1977-1991) is comprised of manuscript drafts and master copies, editor’s notes and notes from fellow authors, research notes, outlines, and book proposals. Beth Daniels-Henderson writes romance novels under the names Beth Daniels, Beth Henderson and Lisa Dane.
The Nevada Hotel and Motel Association Collection contains items from the hospitality and service industries from 1979 to 1992. The collection consists of trade publications, conference brochures, and industry reports focusing on the service and hospitality industries in Nevada.
The Robert Ranney Collection on the Children's Service Guild of Southern Nevada(1947-1990) contain primarily newspaper clippings pertaining to juvenile crime, and other juvenile-related issues in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also included are materials chronicling the operation of the Clark County Juvenile Court Services, including photographs, and two scrapbooks.
