Dennis and Roberta Sabbath Papers

Abstract

The Dennis and Roberta Sabbath papers are comprised of photographs, newspaper clippings, and ephemera created and collected by Dennis and Roberta Sabbath. Photographs and ephemera document the Sabbaths' personal and social lives and their involvement in the Jewish community in Las Vegas, Nevada. Newspaper clippings document the law career of Dennis Sabbath and his campaign for Nevada State Senate in 1986.

Archaeo-Nevada Society Records

Abstract

The Archaeo-Nevada Society Records (1930-2016) consist of archaeological and conservation articles, correspondence, brochures, newsletters, programs, maps, and information about the flora and fauna of Nevada. Materials also include scrapbooks and photograph albums detailing the activities of the society between 1966 and 1999.

Blue Diamond History Committee Collection

Abstract

The Blue Diamond History Committee Collection (1920s-2012) contains materials related to the history of the Blue Diamond Mine and nearby village located about twenty-five miles outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection contains materials including environmental reports, photographs of the mine and its employees and their families, maps, a photocopy of a diary, mine operation records and accident reports, community calendars, and correspondence and property documents of the local post office.

Collection on Repeal of Nevada's Anti-Sodomy Law

Abstract

The collection on Repeal of Nevada's Anti-Sodomy Law (1899-1993), was compiled during the Nevada State Legislature's debate on whether to repeal Nevada's anti-sodomy law in 1993. The bulk of the records are photocopied, Nevada State Prison Records for the twenty-five individuals prosecuted for sodomy between 1899 and 1953. Incuded with these records is an inventory. Other photocopied records include: Senate Bill 466 Legislative History Sodomy Law Repeal, 1993; LH-93-1 S.B.

Neil Galatz Scrapbooks

Abstract

Collection is comprised of scrapbooks from 1948 to 2009 documenting the career of Las Vegas, Nevada lawyer Neil Galatz, his family, and his involvement with the local Jewish community. Contents include news clippings, photographs, event programs, and other ephemera.

J. D. Smith Papers

Abstract

The collection is comprised of various account and appointment books dating from approximately 1922 to 1972 kept by Las Vegas, Nevadan dentist, Dr. Jay Dayton "J. D." Smith, who operated a dental practice near 1st and Fremont streets. Also included in this collection are sympathy cards to Dr. Smith's family upon his passing, copies of his obituary from the Las Vegas Sun, copies of the Las Vegas Age with a front page article on Dr. Smith's appointment as U.S. Marshal, and a copy of the book K.O.

Miriam "Mimi" Katz Papers

Abstract

The Miriam "Mimi" Katz Papers are mainly comprised of materials documenting Katz's involvement with community organizations in Las Vegas, Nevada from the 1940s to 2015 (the bulk of the materials date from 2002 to 2014). A large portion of the collection consists of planning documents, correspondence, event programs, newsletters, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, photographs, and other records related to Katz's involvement in the Brandeis National Committee Las Vegas Chapter and the Temple Beth Sholom Women's League.
