Abstract

The Bill Laub Jr. Papers (1966-2003) contain materials that highlight Laub’s involvement with KNPR Radio in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Republican Party in Nevada, and Southwest Gas Company. Materials include a variety of Republican Party publications, including GOPaper and New Republican Times, as well as Southwest Gas Company advertisements, publications, and photographs. The collection also contains the grant written to establish KNPR Las Vegas, agendas and meeting minutes, correspondence, and financial reports for KNPR Radio.

Mark L. Fine Papers

Abstract

The collection dates from 1920 to 2019 and is primarily comprised of business and organizational records, press, photographs, scrapbooks, audiovisual materials, awards, and ephemera documenting Mark L. Fine’s career as a real estate developer in Southern Nevada and his work with various government and community organizations. The bulk of the material dates from 1980 to 2005.

Bob McCaffery Collection on the Save the Hughes Flying Boat Campaign

Abstract

The Bob McCaffery Collection on the Save the Hughes Flying Boat Campaign (1980-1983) documents efforts by activists to preserve the plane from destruction and its subsequent acquisition by the Aero Club of Southern California in 1980. The collection contains photographs and newspaper clippings about the Hughes H-4 Hercules flying boat nicknamed the "Spruce Goose" from the 1980s.

Wynn Las Vegas Scrapbook

Abstract

The collection consists of one scrapbook (2008) of postcards and photographs tracing the history of the Las Vegas property upon which the Wynn Las Vegas resort was built and four magazines featuring articles about Las Vegas (1940, 1947, 1955, and 1959). The scrapbook begins with several pages of historic postcards of the hotel originally built on the property, the Desert Inn, and continues with the establishment of the Wynn and the vision of its associated resort, the Encore.
