Anthony J. Franchini Papers

Abstract

The Anthony J. Franchini Papers date from 1915 to 1996 and contain the personal and professional papers of Anthony Franchini, a musician and composer. The collection contains newspaper clippings, personal correspondence, Franchini's United States Army records, sheet music, personal photographs, and a scrapbook compiled by Franchini.

McCall Family Papers

Abstract

The McCall Family Papers are comprised primarily of family photographs and correspondence from 1910-1970. The materials concentrate on Quannah McCall and his daughter, Connie McCall, both were well known dentists in Southern Nevada. The materials also contain letters, postcards, holiday cards, and birth, death, and marriage certificates, as well as school commencement announcements for family members.

Tonopah Mining Company Records

Abstract

The Tonopah Mining Company Records derive from the office of the company’s general manager in Tonopah, Nevada and consist of documents directly generated by its mining and milling operations from 1901 through 1941. The collection includes daily work reports, assay reports and certificates, employee time cards, invoices and receipts for mining equipment and supplies, monthly stores reports, and the company’s numerous insurance policies. Several of the company’s annual reports, including an original typescript copy of the 1907 annual report, are included in the collection.

Phyllis Martin Papers

Abstract

The Phyllis Martin Papers (1988-1999) is comprised of North Las Vegas, Nevada reports and marketing materials, Nevada Women's History Project event invitations and pamphlets, a Kiel Ranch historical site building survey and Friends of Kiel Ranch newsletter, and newsletters, event programs, and photographs related to women's political involvement in Nevada. The collection includes materials relating to Martin's career in the Office of Economic Development, her involvement as a historian in the preservation of Kiel Ranch, and roles on planning committees for various local events.

Nevada State Retired Teachers Association on the Book, Inside Nevada Schools: A Challenge for the Future

Abstract

Nevada State Retired Teachers Association Collection on the book Inside Nevada Schools: A Challenge for the Future (1970-1976) contains the finished book and the research conducted for the completion of the project. Included are oral interviews, articles, notes, copies of photographs, and organizational plans.

Grace Clement Papers on the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)

Abstract

Papers are comprised of information on the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Nevada State Society of DAR, Children of the American Revolution (CAR), and the Francisco Garces Chapter of the DAR, of which Grace Clement was a founding member. Papers date from 1950 to 1986 and include correspondence, bulletins, conference programs, booklets, newspaper clippings, and yearbooks. Also included are correspondence and reports from the Friends of the Museum organization, bylaws of the Nevada Society, and DAR ritual books.

Hal Erickson Correspondence

Abstract

The Hal Erickson Correspondence (1967-1993) documents Erickson's role in higher education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The collection includes letters addressed to Hal Erickson from various Nevada politicians and educators relating to the possible acquisition of materials for the UNLV Special Collections and Archives, service on various boards, and congratulations on his impending retirement. The collection also includes materials that document Erickson's involvement with the national and Clark County Democratic conventions.

Sheilagh Brooks Collection on Nevada Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology Records

Abstract

The collection contains materials (1967-1991) collected by Sheilagh Brooks predominantly during her time serving on various boards and committees under the Nevada Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology. Materials include agendas, meeting minutes, correspondence, administrative reports, policies, budget plans, grant applications and guidelines for various federal and state departments. The collection also contains the applications of Nevada sites for the National Register of Historic Places.
