Biographical / Historical Note

Chip Chat was originally a sales catalogue produced by Douglas Saito. In 1994, Saito, in apparant response to readers' needs and a lack of success in the sales catalog, converted the catalogue into a newsletter about chip history and collecting. The newsletter was originally offered through a pay-per-issue system but over time it began to allow subscriptions. Besides providing collector information Chip Chat also held chip auctions. Generally the auctions were held when an older collector died. Through Chip Chat, their collections were auctioned to active collectors. Chip Chat Newsletter has a total of 49 issues; though issue number 49 claims there will be two more final issues produced, it is believed these final issues were never made.
