Oral history interview with Henry and Anita Schuster conducted by Claytee D. White on various dates from March 01, 2011 to April 25, 2011 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Henry discusses his experiences during the Holocaust, including losing his mother and one sister, while reuniting with another sister after she escaped from a concentration camp. Anita discusses growing up with her family in New York, marrying Henry in 1948, and moving around until arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1993. They also discuss their involvement with the Holocaust Survivors Group in southern Nevada.
The Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center Records (1971-2018) mainly consists of correspondence, event planning documents, financial records, subject files, and newspaper clippings created by or related to the Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center and the Nevada Governor’s Advisory Council on Education Relating to the Holocaust. Materials document educational conferences, remembrance events, and student field trips; curriculum planning, involvement with the Clark County School District, and educational materials about the Holocaust and other related historical events; and grant and fundraising activities. The collection also includes photographs and proclamations.
Oral history interview with Jean Tobman, Janie Moore, and Marilyn Moran conducted by Claytee D. White on November 05, 2013 for the West Charleston Neighborhoods--an Oral History Project of Ward 1. In this interview, Jean Tobman recalls coming to Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband and two young children in the 1950s, and the life they established in the Pinto area of the Westside. She also talks about how her husband, Herb, owned City Furniture and a cab company near downtown. Moore and Moran discuss their youth and the enjoyable time they had growing up in Las Vegas. Moran talks about how the city has grown and her time on the City of Las Vegas planning commission. Moore also discusses the growth of Las Vegas and her nostalgia for old Las Vegas.
