The Mary Lytle Papers date from 1909 to 1968 and document Lytle’s experience as the first midwife in Overton, Nevada. The collection contains medical certificates, professional correspondence with Nevada Assistant State Archivist Frederick C. Gale, a handwritten memoir, and black-and-white photographs.
The Michael Athanasoglou Collection on Taxi Driver Rights (1979-1983) contains the records of Las Vegas, Nevada taxicab activist Michael Athanasoglou. Included are clippings, correspondence, fliers, and memoranda that document Athanasoglou’s struggle to organize taxi drivers into a union in Las Vegas.
The Ned V. Bearden Sr. Collection (1958-1966) consists of the Rolodex for Desert York Inc., Bearden's air conditioning equipment business that operated in Las Vegas, Nevada beginning in 1946. The Rolodex contains customer names and addresses, along with installation dates and model numbers for the air conditioning equipment installed.
The Levi Walter Syphus Papers date from 1889 to 1930 and document the activities of Levi Walter Syphus (1866-1949), a southern Nevada pioneer and state legislator. The collection contains a financial ledger, meeting minutes of the Board of Control of the Lincoln County Experiment Farm, and records of experiments in refining magnesite.
The Young Audiences New York, Nevada Humanities Collection dates from 1960 to 1982 and chronicles the chapter’s efforts to bring music education to students from kindergarden through high school of the Clark County School District in Nevada. The collection contains accounting records, performance reviews, grant applications, correspondence, and employee information. The collection also contains performance announcements, newspaper clippings, and students’ thank-you letters.
The Felicia F. Campbell Collection on the Governor’s Commission on Status of People Records (1970-1977) is comprised primarily of meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and memorandums from the Nevada Commission. The collection also contains women’s rights commission handbooks from various states and correspondence and newspaper clippings pertaining to Campbell's professional life.
The MGM Grand Hotel Fire Litigation Collection dates from 1970 to 1982. The collection is comprised of litigation documentation stemming from the November 21, 1980 MGM Grand Hotel fire that killed 85 people and injured 700. Included in the documentation are descriptions of construction materials and furnishings, abstracts of transcribed depositions, a list of companies that were involved with the construction of the MGM Grand, a list of MGM Grand employees, and a list of attorneys involved with the litigation.
The William J. Moore Jr. papers (1925-1974) consist of mining publications, maps of mine locations, production reports, agreements, sales contracts of various ores, property claims, and correspondence. Also included are housing plans, maps, agreements, and financial papers for Westchester Gardens housing tract in Las Vegas, Nevada, estimates and analysis for a 500 room Las Vegas resort hotel.
The Lorraine Thomas-Perry Papers (1910-1936) contain the personal papers of Lorraine Thomas and her family, who were early residents of Beatty, Nevada. Collection materials include report cards, graduation certificates, correspondence, and short stories and poems written by family members. The majority of collection are photocopies. The collection also contains one original program for the opening banquet and ball for Hotel Fayle in Goodsprings, Nevada on May 13, 1916.
