Theresa Malone Papers

Abstract

The Theresa Malone Papers (1970-2002) contain meeting records of the Nevada State Board of Education from 2001 to 2002, where Malone was chair of the government relations board. Included is material on the proposed closure of the Austin, Nevada elementary school and information on charter schools. Also included are press releases, news conference transcripts, and other material gathered by Malone while she worked in the White House from approximately 1974-1975.

Homer Rissman Architectural Records

Abstract

The collection is comprised of architectural records (1947-2001) of American architect, Homer Rissman and the architectural firm, Rissman and Rissman Associates Ltd, a partnership of Homer Rissman and his brother Marshall. The collection includes 825 items from over 40 major projects and over 110 minor projects. The Rissmans' work represented in the collection focused on Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Los Angeles, Southern California, and Arizona, with Homer's early career design work in Chicago, Illinois.

Ellen Burke Rawls Papers

Abstract

The Ellen Burke Rawls Papers comprise the professional writings of Ellen Burke Rawls from 1987 to 1996. The papers document her work as a reviewer in the entertainment industry of Atlantic City, New Jersey and as a publicist for the other professional businesses in and around New Jersey. The material comprise of her personal correspondence, columns from a number of newspapers, correspondence of her participation in The Morning Show program and photographs that were used in her newspaper columns.

Nevada EPSCoR Women in Science and Engineering Records

Abstract

The Nevada EPSCoR Women in Science and Engineering Records (1992-1998) consist primarily of budgets, staff resumes, program reviews and information, and correspondence pertaining to the Nevada Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Las Vegas chapter located at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The records also contain newsletters, conference materials, and graduate assistant information.

Fraternal Order of Eagles, Las Vegas Chapter Records

Abstract

The Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.), Las Vegas Chapter Records (1906-2001) consist primarily of scrapbooks, attendance and meeting minute record books, correspondence, and an accounting ledger from F.O.E. Aerie #1213 and its associated Women’s Auxiliary and Retired Eagles Activities Club (REAC) located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The scrapbooks contain newspaper articles, photographs, memorandums, and state and national F.O.E. convention information. The collection also contains REAC secretary documents including the club charter, constitution, and bylaws. The F.O.E.

Kendall Stagg Collection

Abstract

The Kendall Stagg Collection (1998-2000) consists of material documenting Kendall Stagg’s political races in northern Nevada and also details gay activism in Reno. The collection consists of Stagg campaign materials, a t-shirt from one of his campaigns, and documents pertaining to the Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Student Union at the University of Nevada, Reno and Gay Pride parade organizing in Reno.

Rick L. May Papers

Abstract

The Rick L. May Papers document social and political activities of Las Vegas, Nevada's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community from 1982 to 1997. The papers include records from the Gay Academic Union of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas; various gay pride celebrations in Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas; the Metropolitan Community Church's outreach to the LGBT community; as well as Rick L. May's own notes and collections about LGBT-supportive stores like R and R Assordid Sundries.

Cork Proctor Papers

Abstract

The Cork Proctor Papers document the career of comedian Cork Proctor from 1942 to 2012. The papers include photographs, programs, advertisements, and newspaper articles that illustrate both the longevity and influence of one of Nevada's most famous comedians. From 1972 to 2012, in both Reno and Las Vegas, Proctor consistently worked as a stand-up comedian, writer, and roaster.

Junior Mesquite Club Records

Abstract

This collection comprises records of the Junior Mesquite Club, a womens service organization in operation from 1962 to 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Included are board and membership minutes, correspondence, newsletters, photographs, and reports on the philanthropic efforts of the club. A collection of scrapbooks also chronicle yearly events.
