Antonio Morelli Papers

Abstract

The Antonio Morelli Papers (approximately 1910-1989) consist of photographic prints and slides, scrapbooks, concert programs, correspondence, and audio recordings that chronicle the professional and personal life of longtime Sands Hotel and Casino orchestra conductor Antonio Morelli and his wife Helen. The collection also documents Morelli’s efforts to provide classical music concerts for the Las Vegas, Nevada community and his involvement with the Guardian Angel Church on the Las Vegas Strip.

Las Vegas Professional Men's Club Records

Abstract

The Las Vegas Professional Men’s Club Records (1984-1997) consist of the constitution, meeting minutes, and organizational documents of the Las Vegas Professional Men’s Club, later known as the Las Vegas Men’s Club (LVMC). The LVMC provided a social outlet for gay men in Southern Nevada. The bulk of the materials date from the 1990s and include membership lists, event fliers, promotional materials, financial documents, and information documenting the club’s fundraising activities.

Imperial Royal Sovereign Court of the Desert Empire Records

Abstract

The material is comprised of the organizational records of the Imperial Royal Sovereign Court of the Desert Empire and its predecessor, the Royal Barony of the Desert Empire, from 1997 to 2003. The records contain administrative and financial records such as charters, bylaws, financial reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, and publicity documenting the club’s activities in Southern Nevada.

Stephen Powell Papers

Abstract

The Stephen Powell Papers (1933-1997) contain research bibliographies, indexes, and notecards for his book, A Gambling Bibliography based on the Collection, University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The collection also contains his unpublished and published manuscripts, as well as gaming pamphlets, articles, and ephemera from 1934-1977. The collection includes gaming bibliographies in foreign languages, university archive guides, catalog records, and acquisition files for research books.

Aikaterine Vervilos Collection on Public Policy and Gaming Markets

Abstract

The Aikaterine Vervilos Collection on Public Policy and Gaming (1962-2001) consists of materials collected by Aikaterine Vervilos, an Arizona attorney, for her University of Nevada, Reno master's thesis, "Public Policy and the New Casino Gaming Markets." The collection contains reports on gambling law and horse racing, legal proceedings, and studies related to horse racing, simulcast and off-track betting, peri-mutual gaming, Native American gaming in the United States.
