Oral history interview with William (Bob) Bailey conducted by Claytee White on November 19, 1997 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. William H. “Bob” Bailey discusses how he arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1955 to become the emcee at the Moulin Rouge and how he entered a black community that used his talents in the fight for equality and justice.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Theresa Brickley and Elizabeth Burkey conducted by Andres Moses on January 27, 2006 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. Brickley and Burkey discuss their childhoods in Tokyo, Japan and New York respectively and meeting as performers in the Sun City Dance Company. They also discuss performing in casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada, and teaching tap and jazz dancing for the dance company.

Dr. Donald Baepler discusses his career as a biology professor and administrator at Central Washington University, and various appointments at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) including Academic Vice President (1968), acting President (1969), President (1973), and Chancellor of the university system (1978). He also discusses becoming director of the Majorie Barrick Museum in 1981, and working as a professor of biology at UNLV.
