Oral history interview with Lydia Berry conducted by Kathy Zeller on February 22, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Oral history interview with Jean Childs conducted by Claytee White on December 02, 2013 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. Jean recalls the culture shock of segregation and racism her family encountered upon arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada from California in 1963. Jean spoke about how her mother was a role model for her, who carved a path of fighting for the underprivileged, growing the Head Start program in Las Vegas.

Oral history interview with Rex A. Bell Jr. conducted by Craig S. Klatt on March 01, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Bell discusses his movie star parents, growing up on his family ranch, and his education, from the 5th Street Grammar School to attending Notre Dame University. Bell also discusses his time living in Oregon and Southern Nevada, including his time working in a western clothing store in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bell also discusses social changes, as well as changes in policing styles over time.

Bell also describes the changes of the Las Vegas Strip, her account of witnessing atomic testing events, and her position at Roxie’s, a brothel that existed during the early days of Las Vegas, Nevada.
