Abstract

Oral history interviews with Sam Boyd conducted by John Chickering, Ralph Roske, and Mark Lilley on February 16, 1973, February 28, 1977, and May 09, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Throughout the interviews, Boyd touches on the social, political, and industrial changes that occurred in Southern Nevada pertaining to hotels/casinos, America’s involvement in wars, and political figures that shaped Nevada’s jurisdiction.

Oral history interview with Danel Boone conducted by Daniel Pope on February 22, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. During this interview Boone discusses why he came to Las Vegas, Nevada, the Helldorado parade, church activity, and the weather. Boone also discusses city parks, Boy Scouts, schools, above ground atomic tests, local history of Southern Nevada, and the ways in which Las Vegas has changed over the years.

Bob Coffin oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Bob Coffin conducted by Claytee D. White on January 29, 2010 for the Voices of the Historic John S. Park Neighborhood Oral History Project. Bob Coffin discusses arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1951 and moving his family to the John S. Park Neighborhood in 1960. He discusses working as a janitor at the Nevada Test Site and as a journalist for Las Vegas Review Journal. He also discusses being elected to the Nevada State Assembly in 1982 and to the State Senate in 1986.
