Marko Dobro Photograph Collection

Abstract

The Marco Dobro Photograph Collection, approximately 1910 to 1960, contains black-and-white photographic prints, negatives, slides, and postcards. Images consist primarily of locations in and around Tonopah, Goldfield, and Wells, Nevada, including Dobro's Nevada Cafe in Tonopah. Many images feature Dobro with friends and associates. A small number of images show locations in Southern California.

KLVX Steamboats on the Colorado Photograph Collection

Abstract

The KLVX Steamboats on the Colorado Photograph Collection contains photographic prints and negatives used by the Las Vegas, Nevada television station KLVX (Channel 10) for a documentary on steamboats in the Southwest United States between approximately 1870 and 1979. KLVX made this documentary for the Arizona American Revolution Bicentennial Commission and the Nevada American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, who jointly funded the documentary’s production. Some of these photographs may be reproductions of originals gathered during the research for the documentary.

Stanley Mitchell Photograph Collection

Abstract

The Stanley Mitchell Photograph Collection (approximately 1900-1980) consists of black-and-white photographic prints. The images portray street scenes and residents from mining communities in Southern Nevada, including Beatty, Alamo, Goldfield, Nye County, Pioche, Carrara, Esmeralda County, and Belmont, Nevada. Other images include officials signing a water bond in Esmeralda County members of the Central Nevada Cattlemen’s Association, and the Little Oasis Market in Alamo.

Alicia Lawrence Photograph Collection

Abstract

The Alicia Lawrence Photograph Collection (1982) consists of black-and-white photographic prints and negatives which are reproductions of postcards dating from approximately 1938 to 1945. The images depict sites in Las Vegas, Nevada, including the Union Pacific Railroad Depot, Fremont Street during the annual Helldorado Parade, and the Clark County Courthouse.

Austin R. Wardle Photograph Collection

Abstract

The Austin R. Wardle Photograph Collection (1907) consists of three black-and-white photographic prints of the main street and schoolhouse in Tonopah, Nevada. Also included are three photographic reproductions and three negatives of the originals. Two images show the funeral procession of Wardle's younger brother, Orley, who died of meningitis at the age of eight; the remaining image shows the Tonopah schoolhouse with children lined up in preparation for the funeral procession.

Elizabeth Gemmell Frizzell Photograph Collection

Abstract

The Elizabeth Gemmell Frizzell Photograph Collection, approximately 1982 to 2015, contains black-and-white photographic prints and negatives of depicting life at the Prince Mine in Pioche, Nevada. Images portray Tom Wah and his wife Gue Gim Wah posing in front of the one-room school house where Tom served meals and lived for a short time prior to purchasing the mine store. Images are reproductions created between 1982 and 2020 of scenes from approximately 1920 to 1939.
