Description

Oral history interview with Marisa Rodriguez conducted by Maribel Estrada Calderón, Monserrath Hernández and Claytee D. White for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. Marisa Rodriguez discusses her childhood and living in North Las Vegas as a teenager; she was born in Chicago, Illinois, moved to Mexico with her family at a young age, and returned to the United States at age 12. She recounts what it was like acclimating to American life, learning English, and studying abroad in Spain before becoming a law student. Marisa attended the William S. Boyd School of Law and is currently a civil litigator in Las Vegas. Subjects discussed include: La Voz Hispanic/Latino Law Students Association at the William S. Boyd School of Law; Huellas mentorship program.

After returning from the Vietnam War in 1973, Webb began taking EMT classes in Las Vegas, Nevada. Beginning in 1975, Webb served as a field representative in Humboldt, Lander, Eureka, Elko, and White Pine Counties in order to conduct EMT classes and tests, a job he did for the next nineteen years. After that, he served as the Elko ambulance service director until 2005.

Examples of photographic subjects include scenes and closeups of some years of the World Series of Poker tournaments; Horseshoe Casino interiors, exteriors, roadside billboards and renovations; Binion's Montana ranch; and Jack Binion doing promotional giveaways for the Horseshoe.

The majority of photographic items are prints which can be found in black and white as well as color. There are also negatives and contact sheets, almost all of which duplicate prints already existing in the collection.
