    Las Vegas, Nevada, Evening Review-Journal, January 16, 1943 -Boulder City Journal MUCH NEW WATER MAIN LINE SET BY WATER COMPANY More than 30,000 feet of new east iron water mains were in­stalled in Las Vegas in 1942 by the Las Vegas Land and Water company to take care of the 611 new houses built for defense housing alone, according to. an annual report compiled by A. M. Folger, - superintendent of the water company. He pointed out that this installation is at an av­erage rate of two new houses for each working day of the year. The potential capacity for water production in Las Vegas was practically doubled during the past year, Folger stated. He presented the following statis­tics regarding the water system in Las Vegas: - • Potential Production — 1941, 6.380.000 gallons per day; 1942, 11.320.000 gallons per day. 'Number of Service Connec­tions—1941, 2,458; 1942, 3,069. - Sources of Supply—1941, two springs and six wells; 1942, two. springs and 10 wells, with pumps. ' Water Mains in Place—Trans­mission mains,- 23,305 feet; dis­tribution mains, 132,687 feet. Extensions to Serve Defense Housing Projects During the Year: Huntridge, 125 new homes; Biltmore, 100; Victory, 40; Tif- fandalo, *55; El Encanto, *64; Mayfair No. 1, 86; Mayfair No. 2, *69; Mayfair No. 3, *72.
