San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company Records

Abstract

The collection is comprised of records of the San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company (1901-1976). The construction of this railroad led to the founding of Las Vegas, Nevada and the creation of the Empire Construction Company and Las Vegas Land and Water Company. The records document the company's operations and include correspondence and contracts relating to lots in the Las Vegas townsite, payments and accounts, invoices and other audit materials from 1905 to 1923.

Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad Records

Abstract

The Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad Records (1905-1977) contain correspondence, purchase requisitions, bills of lading, freight reports, and waybills. Also included are a ledger book, a rubber stamp, and a booklet, "Diagrams of Locomotives and Tenders." Incorporated in 1904, the Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad operated for 35 years, connecting Ludlow, California with Beatty, Nevada by way of Death Valley on the Santa Fe Railroad main line. The records are concentrated on the later years of the railroad from 1930 to 1940.

Nevada Motion Picture Division Collection of Scripts

Abstract

The Nevada Motion Picture Division Collection of Scripts dates from 1981 to 2005 with the bulk of the collection dating from 1984 to 1996 and consists primarily of scripts for feature films, television movies and shows, and commercials filmed in the state of Nevada. The collection includes location reports and shooting schedules for some of the productions. The collection also contains press materials received by the Motion Picture Division.

Senator Chic Hecht Political Papers

Abstract

The Senator Chic Hecht Political Papers (1943-1988) contain the political papers of United States Senator and Las Vegas, Nevada businessman Chic Hecht. The bulk of the collection contains legislation, notes, correspondence between Hecht and constituents and other members of Congress, and speeches from Senator Hecht's term in the Senate from 1982 to 1988. Also included are files on civil service, the federal budget, education, labor, transportation, land management, foreign policy, public health, and trade.

Beda Cornwall Collection on the Citizen's Library Association of Las Vegas

Abstract

The Beda Cornwall Collection on the Citizen's Library Association of Las Vegas consists of material gathered by Beda Brennecke Cornwall that documents the activities of the Citizen's Library Association of Las Vegas during the years 1941 to 1973. Most of the materials document the efforts by the citizens group to raise money in the community to build and sustain a new public library in Las Vegas, Nevada.
