Jack Schofield Papers

Abstract

The Jack Schofield Papers are comprised of Dr. Jack Lund Schofield's scrapbooks, photographs, and awards from 1968 to 2014. Dr. Schofield was a Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) regent, member of the Nevada legislature, and teacher. The scrapbooks document Schofield's involvement with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Aerospace program from the 1960s to the 1990s. The awards and photographs are from NSHE and document Schofield's involvement as a regent.

Jerry Morlan Professional Papers

Abstract

This collection contains material that documents the career of technology educator Jerry Morlan (1938-2000), primarily in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bulk of the materials date between 1986-1996 and refer to Morlan's role in integrating technology into the classroom in the Clark County, Nevada School District. They include numerous letters of thanks and recommendation from schools throughout the county, as well as Morlan's professional writings and newspaper clippings related to his advocacy of vocational learning in the industrial arts. Also included in the collection is a group of photographs that visually document student projects Morlan directed during the 1980s, as well as a videocassette program from 1991 that offered an introduction to technology.

Abstract

The George Stewart Personal Papers (1914-2014) are comprised of military records and personal papers of George Stewart, a fifty-year Las Vegas, Nevada resident. The collection includes information about the Clark County Republican Party, Stewart's service in the United States Army Air Corps, and documents and photographs from Stewart's childhood in the Boy Scouts of America during the 1930s and 1940s. The collection also contains a personal scrapbook containing photographs, fliers, and memorabilia from his early education and military training. Stewart also collected menus and keychains from local Las Vegas, Nevada country clubs and casinos.

Kim Sisters Scrapbooks and Clippings

The Kim Sisters material date from 1959 to 1966 and 1983. It consists of two scrapbooks and one folder of photocopied materials containing newspaper clippings about the appearances of the Kim Sisters muscial group throughout the United States as well as Italy, Germany, and Spain. It also includes two record album sleeves.

The collection also includes A Place of Hope, a documentary about the Warsaw Remembrance Garden at Temple Beth Sholom in Las Vegas featuring Kronberg.

Abstract

The Ann Valder Photograph Collection on Judy Bayley (1969-1971) consists of black-and-white photographic prints of Hacienda Hotel owner Judy Bayley, collected by Las Vegas, Nevada journalist Ann Valder. The collection is primarily comprised of photographic prints of Bayley at a 1971 event held in her honor at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection also includes photographic prints of Bayley at fundraisers for the American Cancer Society. Ann Valder was an editor and journalist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Valley Times, as well as a columnist for the Las Vegas Sun.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Marietta "Margie" Llorente Gonzales conducted by Cecilia Winchell, Vanessa Concepcion, and Stefani Evans on November 1 and 22, 2021 for Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project. Margie Llorente-Gonzales discusses her upbringing in Manila, the Philippines and her family history within the country, recalling the lives of her parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. She talks about her childhood, educational pursuits, and courtship with her husband in the Philippines. Margie shares how she and her husband immigrated to the United States, how she adapted to her new life as an immigrant dependent on her extended family, and how she and her husband came to settle in Las Vegas. She talks about her artistic pursuits in the forms of dance choreography and performing, scriptwriting, broadcasting, and publishing newsletters. Margie also discusses her employment at McCarran Airport and her political activism, canvassing, and committee work in the Philippines and the United States.
