The Student Engagement and Diversity Records (approximately 1989-2009) document activities related to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Student Engagement and Diversity office and its predecessors. Materials include documents and photographs about activities and events such as Premier UNLV, Homecoming, Rebels After Dark, and the Rebel Variety Show.

Scope and Contents Note

The Student Engagement and Diversity Records (approximately 1989-2009) document activities and events hosted by or related to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Student Engagement and Diversity office and its predecessors (Student Union and Activities, Multicultural Student Affairs, Campus Community Development, Student Involvement and Activities, Student Diversity Programs and Services, and Civic Engagement Programs and Services). The majority of the collection consists of photographs that document student activities hosted by the office including Welcome Week, Festival of Communities, Homecoming, Greek Life, and Family Weekend. The records document the office's involvement with UNLV activities such as Homecoming, Premier UNLV, the Involvement Fair for UNLV student organizations, the Cultural Leadership Retreat, Rebel Variety Show, and Rebels After Dark. The records provide insight into the activities of the Office of Student Engagement and Diversity and its predecessors, particularly its involvement with promoting and supporting diverse student groups and activities at UNLV. Materials include photographic prints, slides, digital photographs, and videotapes.

Biographical / Historical Note

Student and Engagement and Diversity is an office of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) subdivided into four groups: Student Involvement and Activities (SIA), Service Learning and Leadership (SLL), and Student Diversity and Social Justice (DSJ). Together these groups facilitate resources and involvement opportunities to UNLV students, faculty, staff, and community members. The office changed it's name to Student Engagement and Diversity on May 1, 2015. It was previously known as Civic Engagement and Diversity from 2009 to 2015 as well as Student Involvement and Activities from 2006 to 2009.

Acquisition Note

Materials were transferred periodically to the University Archives in 2014 to 2021 from the Office of Student Engagement and Diversity; accession numbers 2014-056, 2016-067, 2017-019, 2021-001.

Processing Note

In 2017, Maggie Bukowski and Tammi Kim accessioned the records and created the finding aid in ArchivesSpace. In 2021, Tammi Kim accessioned an addition to the collection and updated the finding aid. Digital files were transferred off of optical discs, zip disks, and a floppy disk and access copies were created.
