Abstract

Oral history interview with John Perazzo conducted by Claytee D. White on June 16, 2016 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Perazzo discusses his upbringing in Las Vegas, Nevada. He talks about attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California to obtain a degree mathematics and computer science. Perazzo then recalls his father's work in architecture and his father's employment at the Nevada Test Site. Later, Perazzo discusses becoming a card dealer at the El Cortez Hotel and Casino and describes the challenges in working at casinos. Lastly, Perazzo talks about the development of Fremont Street.

Scope and Contents

The Bergman Walls & Associates architectural drawings contains projects with scanned digital copies of their physical drawings dating between 1997 and 2017. The digital material also include presentation files, renderings, computer generated drawings, and scanned drawings uniquely available only in digital formats in physical formats. These files are available as access copies generated from four USB flash drives obtained from BWA.

When available, project numbers refer to the original project identification numbers used by BWA for filing purposes. Project number "000000" refer to unbuilt or conceptual drawings and projects filed but not properly identified. Clients refer to the individual, corporation, or group a project is designed for. Location refers to a project's proposed site, current site, or previously existing site of construction.

Also included are unscanned drawings containing unique renderings, sketches, and prints of computer generated drawings only with no digital components or counterparts.

Elbert Edwards oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Elbert Edwards conducted by Ronald Johns in 1972 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Edwards discusses his work in Las Vegas, Nevada public schools during the Great Depression. The two also discuss the Hoover (Boulder) Dam, Edwards’ involvement in politics, and mining in Nevada. He also talks about the development of Boulder City, Nevada, the early territorial boundaries of Nevada and Utah, the atomic testing at the Nevada Test Site, and early water sources in Southern Nevada.
