Las Vegas - December 16, 19**® W 23-3-3 Mr, A. C. Bitter: The Grand Jury adjourned here yesterday, and one of their recommendations was that the' City establish a sub-station somewhere on the West Side for fire protection. While we have received no formal request from the City, the Fire Chief yesterday Inquired whether it would be possible to eeeure a site for this propose on Railroad land at the intersection of Ranoho Road and West Bonanza Bead, as he felt this location would afford protection to not only the well-settled residential district west of the railroad tracks, but also the new Bonanza Village tract. Twin Lakes resort and the new homes along Banoho Boad and in the West Charleston district. We have plans under way to construct a water line to Bonanza Village tract, and this line when completed would pass close by the location he refers to, which Is in the northeast corner of our water-bearing land, I advised Chief Case that the policy of the Railroad has been to retain this land for the protection of the water supply thereunder, but that I would inquire regarding the possibility of a lease or sale of this location. He has in mind a site about 200 feet by 200 feet, and in the event this Is not available he will have to select some other location. They plan to start construction in about six months. A. M. Folger
