Abstract

The James Reece Photographs of El Rancho Vegas depict the Las Vegas Strip's first hotel, El Rancho Vegas, in Las Vegas, Nevada, from approximately 1950 to 1962. The photographs depict a craps table and its operators, owner Beldon Katleman with Eleanor Roosevelt, the hotel's exterior, and military servicemen photographed with one of El Rancho's entertainers, Yvette Dare.

Abstract

The Las Vegas News Bureau Photograph Collection consists of black-and-white and color photographic prints, negatives, and slides depicting Las Vegas, Nevada from approximately 1940 to 1989. The images primarily depict hotels on the Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada, including Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, the Flamingo Hotel & Casino, and the Desert Inn Hotel and Casino. Also included are images of the convention center in Las Vegas and Cashman Field, as well images of entertainers performing on the Las Vegas Strip. The collection consists entirely of photographic reproductions.

The records contain membership information, by-laws, correspondence, scrapbooks, publications, memoranda, and ephemera about women's issues, environmental concerns, and the club's activities in the Greater Las Vegas and Paradise Valley chapters. The records also contain information from conferences held by Soroptimist International, including audio cassette recordings of speeches and presentations.
