The Nevada Watercolor Society Records (1969-2009) contain watercolor paintings and organizational records pertaining to the Nevada Watercolor Society, a non-profit organization that aims to promote watermedia painting and art appreciation. Organizational records contain materials including by-laws, articles of incorporation, newsletters, exhibit information, tax and financial records, receipts, photographs, negatives, and newspaper clippings. The collection also includes paintings by society members and newspaper clippings about art exhibitions and artists in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Nevada Watercolor Society Records contain watercolor paintings and organizational records pertaining to the Nevada Watercolor Society (1969-2009), a non-profit organization that aims to promote watermedia painting and art appreciation. Organizational records contain materials including by-laws, articles of incorporation, newsletters, exhibit information, tax and financial records, receipts, photographs, negatives, and newspaper clippings. The collection also includes paintings by society members. Also included are papers from founding member, Bertie Ewing, which primarily include newspaper clippings about art exhibitions and artists in Las Vegas. Ewing's papers also include some correspondence and photographs.

Biographical / Historical Note

The Nevada Watercolor Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of watermedia in Southern Nevada. It was founded in 1969 by Myra Da Costa and is still active as of 2019. Organizational activities include watercolor painting lectures, demonstrations, workshops, and triannual exhibits. Membership is open to the general public.

Materials were donated in 2005 by Shirley Jeane; accession number 2004-032. Materials were also donated in 2019 and 2021 by the Nevada Watercolor Society; accession numbers 2019-104 and 2021-076.

Processing Note

In 2018, as part of a backlog elimination project, Faye Mazzia processed the collection and created a finding aid in compliance with current professional standards. In 2019, Mary Anilao and Joseph Puentes deframed paintings, rehoused items, and updated finding aid information in ArchivesSpace. In 2021, Tammi Kim accessioned the 2021 addition and updated the finding aid.
