Oral history interview with Catherine Morales-Jackson conducted by Claytee D. White on May 05, 2010 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project Oral History Project. Catherine provides retrospective on a range of library topics the including discussion of the thousands of volumes she bound to the move to Lied Library, a Celebrity Pancake fundraiser to staff parties, and the implementation of a campus parking fee to the various library organizations that she has belonged to over the years.

William J. Moore Jr. oral history interviews

Abstract

Oral history interviews with William J. Moore Jr. conducted by Elizabeth Nelson Patrick on May 05, 1981 and August 29, 1981 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In these interviews, Moore discusses arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1941 to design and build the Last Frontier Hotel. Moore describes his work as an architect and recalls the other hotels he helped design. He then discusses purchasing mines in order to obtain their electrical components.

Moore begins by discussing her family's history in Nevada and the people she met in Las Vegas, Nevada. She talks about visits by prominent politicians to Las Vegas, the crash of Carole Lombard's plane, and life in Las Vegas during the 1930s and 1940s. Moore also describes how Las Vegas has changed, nuclear weapons tests, and the Stewart Ranch.
