Abstract

Oral history interview with Daniel Van Epp conducted by Stefani Evans on April 19, 2017 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Van Epp discusses his upbringing in Virginia. He talks about his initial interest in architecture, moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1995, and becoming President of the Howard Hughes Corporation. Van Epp recalls the development of Summerlin, the increase of homes being built in that area, and the construction of the I-215 Beltway.

Cranford Crawford oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Cranford Crawford conducted by Claytee D. White on May 27, 2016 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. In this interview Crawford discusses his early life and moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1964. He talks about his involvement with the Las Vegas branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), working with African American community leaders, and the consent decree of 1971 alleging a series of violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Abstract

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Department of Theatre Records (approximately 1960-2017) are mainly comprised of the records of Ellis Pryce-Jones who was a faculty member in the Theatre Arts Department from 1972 to 2004 and Jerry L. Crawford who served as chair of the Theatre Department and the Dean of the College of Fine Arts. Records mainly represent shows produced by the Theatre Arts Department as well as documenting the evolution of the department over the years.

William F. Harrah College of Hospitality Records on UNLVino

Abstract

The William F. Harrah College of Hospitality Records on UNLVino are comprised of materials (1974-2020) that document UNLVino, an annual wine tasting event organized by Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' William F. Harrah College of Hospitality in Las Vegas, Nevada. The materials in this collection includes press coverage, various promotional and marketing materials, event photographs, and event planning documents.

El Rancho Vegas Newspaper Clippings

Abstract

The El Rancho Vegas Newspaper Clippings (approximately 1990-2004) primarily contains copies of newspaper clippings from 1940 to 1948 on the El Rancho Vegas from the Las Vegas Evening Review-Journal. The collection also includes copies of newspaper clippings on the Thunderbird Hotel and Casino and Club Bingo. The materials in this collection were collected by Joyce Moore for her research as a history graduate student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

University of Nevada Las Vegas Dean of Libraries Records

Abstract

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Dean of Libraries Records (approximately 1994-2017) consists mainly of subject, budget, committee, and research files from Patricia Iannuzzi who served as Dean of UNLV Libraries from 2005 to 2017. The records in this collection cover topics including the Libraries' budgets, planning for the Health Sciences Library, and general space planning. The collection also includes Ianuzzi's research files on information literacy and general education.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas Associate Dean of UNLV University Libraries Records

Abstract

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Associate Dean of UNLV University Libraries Records (2000-2015) primarily contains materials kept by Scott S. Smith, former Associate Dean of UNLV University Libraries. Materials include UNLV accreditation reports and supporting documentation as well as annual reports and strategic plans for UNLV University Libraries. Materials also include various UNLV faculty and employee policy guides and orientation handbooks and an information packet for UNLV Libraries Advisory Board.

Las Vegas Founders Club Records

Abstract

The Las Vegas Founders Club Records (1983-2013) consist mainly of photographic prints of players, general operations, and events surrounding golf tournaments in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tournaments include the Invensys Classic, Las Vegas Senior Classic, men's and women's Collegiate Championships, and the Las Vegas Invitational. Materials also include media press reports, newspaper and press clippings, and scrapbooks created by the Founders Club. The collection also contains digital photographs from various tournaments in Las Vegas.

Todd Avery Lenahan oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Todd Avery Lenahan conducted by Stefani Evans on November 29, 2016 for the Building Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Lenahan discusses his early life as a military child, and repeatedly relocating to several states. He talks about moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1999, and founding his architecture firm, TAL Studio. Lenahan recalls doing the interior design for the home of Steve Wynn, designing show rooms in the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, and making design accomodations for visually impaired individuals.

Eric A. Jamieson Photographs

Abstract

The Eric A. Jamieson Photographs contain photographic slides of the Western United States' Intermountain region from 1955 to 1983. The bulk of the images are of the region's physical and urban landscapes and include Las Vegas, Nevada, the Las Vegas Strip and Fremont Street, Nevada mining towns, Red Rock Canyon, Mount Charleston, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, and Death Valley.
