Abstract

Oral history interview with Hope Foye and Melody Woolley conducted by Claytee D. White on February 07, 2019 and March 01, 2019 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. In these interviews, Foye discusses her early life and her career as a singer. She remembers performing with Paul Robeson, living through McCarthy Era restrictions, and segregation in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1950s. Foye talks about performing in Mexico, and experiencing discrimination as a performer in Las Vegas.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Marietta "Margie" Llorente Gonzales conducted by Cecilia Winchell, Vanessa Concepcion, and Stefani Evans on November 1 and 22, 2021 for Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project. Margie Llorente-Gonzales discusses her upbringing in Manila, the Philippines and her family history within the country, recalling the lives of her parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. She talks about her childhood, educational pursuits, and courtship with her husband in the Philippines.

Gardea starts talking about her early life, family, and family history. She explains why she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2002 and why she chose to attend University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After, Gardea describes what happened before and during the Route 91 Harvest festival, what she experienced during the shooting, and her journey in escaping the scene.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Jeffrey Fahl conducted by Claytee D. White on August 5, 2019 for the UNLV School of Medicine Oral History Project. Fahl starts off by talking about his family, early life, and school history. He stated that he went to Hahnemann School of Medicine in 1974 for pediatrics in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then discusses his residency at Hahnemann Hospital and explained pediatric gastroenterology. Then, Fahl talks about his past mentors, what he had learned from them, and what he plans to do as a mentor to help other pediatric residents.

Anthony Kappenman oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Anthony Kappenman conducted by Claytee D. White on May 16, 2019 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. Kappenman begins the interview by talking about his early life, childhood, work, and his time in the military. Afterwards, he recalls what he did on October 1, 2017 prior to the Route 91 festival and during the shooting. He describes his journey trying to escape the area, arriving at the airport injured, and his stay in the hospital.
