The records also include photographic prints, slides, and digital images of artwork.

Description

Tourists descend on an escalator to Las Vegas Boulevard after using the pedestrian overpass connecting the Treasure Island and the Venetian Hotel and Casinos. Overpasses like this have become a popular way of keeping tourists safe and traffic flowing on the Strip, but their expense and footprint make them difficult for all locations. Moving pedestrians along the Strip safely has become a major effort over the years.

Abstract

The Downtown Las Vegas Design Drawings (approximately 2011-2014) is comprised of seven design drawings created for select businesses located in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The drawings are colored on tissue and were created by BUNNYFiSH studio, an architectural firm located in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection includes three drawings for a porte-cochère at the D Las Vegas hotel; drawings for the exteriors of the Hydrant Club, Inspire, and HOP Downtown; and an interior drawing for Scullery.

Abstract

The Las Vegas Review-Journal Photograph Collection depicts several events in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1935 to 1983 that were documented by Nevada’s largest newspaper, the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The photographs depict the fire at the Las Vegas School in 1935, the fire at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in 1980, an exhibition at the Lost City Museum in 1973, a memorial event honoring the first permanent school in Las Vegas in 1980, and an exhibition at the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in 1983. The collection also contains photographs of some denizens of Las Vegas, including people at the Hughes Bar in Las Vegas, the last Union Pacific passenger train in Las Vegas, and schoolchildren at the Las Vegas School.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas ROTC Records are comprised of administrative files and photographic prints from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) from its inception in 1980 to 1991. The collection includes photographs of cadet activities as well as Army ROTC recruitment materials.

Description

Following the October 1, 2017 killing of 58 people at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival on the Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas community responded in a variety of ways. Envisioned by activists and built by volunteers, the City of Las Vegas established the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden at 1015 S. Casino Center Boulevard to honor the victims and give family members and the community a place to gather to remember.
