Abstract

Oral history interview with Walter V. Long conducted by Tracy Tillander on March 24, 1981 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In the interview, Long discusses his experiences as a high school grammar teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Las Vegas, Nevada. Long also discusses his early life and teaching in Pioche, Nevada; Panaca, Nevada; and Tonopah, Nevada.

Osborne, Thomas J., 1860-1918

Thomas J. Osborne was born March 9, 1860, in Swinton, England, and immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1870. In 1871, the family settled in Pioche, Nevada. In 1881, he married Louise Theis. The couple had one son and three daughters. The youngest daughter married Jerome Fargo Sears in 1911.

Oral history interview with truck driver and fireman Wesley Troy Adams (b. 1930) conducted by Katherine D. Beal on March 01, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas.Born in Modena, Utah, Adams relocated to Nevada in 1959. Adams discusses LDS church organization and affiliation, celebrations in Caliente, Pioche, and Panaca. Also during the interview, Adams offers insight into raising a family in Southern Nevada, Bottle House in Pittman, atomic testing, and shares his philosophical views on life.
