Oral history interview with Theodore Garrett conducted by Marilyn Swanson on March 2, 1975 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Garrett discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada to work for Six Companies during the construction of Hoover Dam, his job as a truck driver, the wages paid at the time, and the construction in Boulder City, Nevada. Garrett also mentions the food provided to the workers, the recreational activities available, and his family’s move to Boulder City.

Garrison later describes her work for the Central Telephone Company and the Helldorado Parade.

This collection provides historical documentation about early to mid-century Caliente, Nevada.

Abstract

The Art Rader Photograph Collection on Nevada Railroads depicts railroads, mills, and depots in Nevada and Southern California from 1905 to approximately 1975. The photographs primarily depict the remnants of the Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad, the Pacific Coast Borax Company, and obsolete tracks, buildings, mills, and boxcars from the early-twentieth century. The photographs also depict depots and railroad intersections in Death Valley Junction, California and Crucere, California, and the photographs include the Union Pacific Railroad's tracks that were once part of the Salt Lake Railroad.
