Tead, Phil, 1893-1974

Phillips "Phil" Tead acted in over 40 films over the course of 53 years. He was born on September 29, 1893 to Louise Moore Ordway and Edward S. Tead. Tead acted in numerous films, including Howard Hughes' The Front Page (1931). He was best known for a recurring role as Professor Pepperwinkle in The Adventures of Superman. Tead retired in 1967, but remained active in the film industry. He died in Los Angeles, California on June 9, 1974.

Sutherland, A. Edward (Albert Edward), 1897-1973

Film director and actor Albert Edward Sutherland was born in London, England on January 5, 1895. Sutherland's aunt was the actor Charlotte Greenwood, his father was a theatre manager, and his mother was a vaudeville performer. He starred in 39 films and directed over 50 films, including Howard Hughes' Sky Devils (1932).

Sutherland married five times and died on December 31, 1973 in Palm Springs, California.

Darrow, John, 1907-1980

John Darrow as an actor known for playing roles in the Howard Hughes films The Racket (1928) and Hell's Angels (1930). He was born as Harry Simpson on July 17, 1907 in Leonia, New Jersey and died on February 24, 1980 in Malibu, California.

Davidson, E. Roy

Elmo Roy Davidson, also known as E. Roy or Roy Davidson, was born in Missouri in 1889. After moving to Texas with his family, he moved to California around 1910. Davidson began working as a film scenario writer in the mid-1920s, and was well-established for his work in special effects within a decade. In addition to early work on Howard Hughes' air drama, Hell's Angels as the films "miniature director", Davidson contributed to forty-five films between 1930 and 1949. E. Roy Davidson died in 1962.
