Abstract

The Nevada Burial Records of Stewart Ranch date from 1905 to 1913 and consist of a ledger recording those buried at Stewart Ranch in Las Vegas, Nevada. The entries in the ledger document the names of the deceased and where they died. Some entries have additional information explaining how the person died and their height and weight.

Description

On February 26 and 27, 1979, Dale Forshee interviewed Helen Early (born 1919 in Des Moines, Iowa) about her life in Southern Nevada. Early first talks about her arrival to Las Vegas and the early development of the city. She also talks about some of the first businesses in Las Vegas, the initial development of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the early nightclubs and casinos in the city. Early also discusses her work in establishing a school for disabled children before discussing other topics related to McCarran Airport, Bugsy Siegel, Senator Walter Baring, the first churches in Las Vegas, and the Helldorado Parade.

Description

The Shubert Theatre stage as seen from the upper house left side of the balcony seats. Two sections of box seats are visible. The intricate wall designs are visible above the box seats and above the exit for the balcony rows. The 3,000 seat Shubert Theater was built inside what was originally the city’s original YMCA (which opened in 1848). The theater opened in 1921 as a venue for legitimate theatrical performances. The Shubert Theater switched to a combined use venue for movies and stage shows in 1935. The theater was closed in 1953 and reopened as Rev. Earl Ivies' Revival Temple. Just two years later, however, the Shubert Theater was renovated and once again returned to legitimate theater. In 1976, the Shubert Theater was demolished to make way for a parking lot. Abstract

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Lied Library Architectural Records (1965-2010) are comprised of drawings and documents created by the American architecture firms of Welles Pugsley Architects and Leo A Daly Architects, as well as their associated consultants, engineers, and other professional collaborators. This collection documents the design and construction of Lied Library at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The materials feature both hand-drawn and computer generated architectural drawings, ranging from preliminary sketches and artist renderings to schematic drawings and construction documents.
