Library's copy has "1907" printed with brown crayon in upper margin and has four sets of two holes punched in a vertical line along the right third of the map. Original publisher: Clason Map Co..

Description

A panoramic photo of the Bullfrog Mining District taken in 1906 by well-known Rhyolite photographer A. E. Holt. Written on negative by Holt: "Panorama looking north west from Shoshone Bullfrog Gold property showing country east of Montgomery property." Image also names five mines with corresponding numbers which locate the mines on the photo. Those listed are: "1. Montgomery Shoshone, 2. Lucky Jack, 3. Red Oak, 4. Pittsburgh, and 5. Shoshone Bullfrog Gold."

Graglia, Joseph, 1876-1934

Joseph Graglia was an early resident of Las Vegas, Nevada. Born February 9, 1876 in Italy, he settled in British Columbia, Canada with his wife Frances. Graglia and his family moved to Rhyolite, Nevada in 1908 and later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1911.

Description

School children and teachers pose outside a one-story wooden building identified as "the only school in Las Vegas at the time". The school building was moved by railroad from Rhyolite to the corner of 2nd Street and Lewis in Las Vegas. People identified in the photo are, beginning with front row, left to right: #1: sister of #5 (name unknown); #5: sister of #1 (name unknown); #7: Kessler ( Ernie May's sister); #9: Otto "Kelly" Westlake; #10: Ernie May; #29 Older son of Tom Squires; #38: Tom Lake; #40: Mrs. Palmer (teacher who ran the high school); #41: Mrs. Bartlet (teacher who ran the grammar school). Approximate date between 1905-1910.
