Gail Spaulding Jaros was born on October 16, 1937, in Cicero, Illinois. a suburb of Chicago. Her father Jerry Jaros was a professional saxaphone player and her mother, Fern Spaulding Jarosm was a professional trombone player. Gail began tap and ballet lessons when she was five years old. She signed as a dancer with Moro-Landis Productions in 1956, and she worked for that company at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the Riverside Hotel and Casino in Reno, and the Beverly Hills Country Club in Covington, Kentucky.

Davis, Sammy, Jr., 1925-1990
Samuel George Davis Jr. (1925-1990) was a successful comedian, actor, dancer, and singer in America during the mid-20th century. Davis was also a part of the famous Rat Pack with lifelong friend and collaborator, Frank Sinatra, and frequently performed in Las Vegas, Nevada. He overcame racism during his career and refused to appear at clubs that practiced racial segregation. Some well known recordings of Davis’s include "I've Gotta Be Me" and the hit "The Candy Man."

Behind the performers, parts of the Strip can be seen including The Sands, The Sahara, Guardian Angel Cathedral, The Desert Inn, and downtown in the distance. Other sequences show the Flamingo and the Dunes sign from the elevated viewpoint. Cuts to Caesars Palace construction site where owner Jay Sarno leads a tour through the property; Sarno walks the group through the pool area where construction laborers work on the just poured swimming pool. Footage then cuts to a dressing room scenes as women apply makeup followed by clips from a performance in various outfits. Footage then cuts to the Hacienda pool where the act meets with Hacienda Casino owner Judy Bailey; group is filmed near the Thunderbird Casino driving away in a Corvette. Oral history interview with Karen Carmichael conducted by Stefani Evans on December 9, 2019 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project.
In this oral history Carmichael discusses the world of professional dancing in the 1970s through the 1990s. She discusses her start in the industry and a variety of Las Vegas shows she participated in including: the Union Plaza Can Can, the American Dream Festival, Dasin’ Dirdy, and Babes Ahoy. She also goes into great detail behind her vision for Skyline, her adagio act, and the many celebrities she encountered throughout her career.
Carmichael also discusses her second career in jewelry design, and her experiences working with art galleries on the Las Vegas strip. She details the experiences of starting off at traveling art festivals, working her way up to award winning designs, and the art of jewelry photography. She also discusses the process of researching and publishing history for her book. She ends the interview with a discussion of what it means to be an artist and role of creativity in her life and those around her. She also discusses the ways in which others such as Betty Francisco, Hedy Jo Star, Debbie Reynolds and Sammy Davis Jr. had shaped her life.
