Abstract

The Gellman Family Photograph Collection on the Flamingo Hotel (approximately 1946-1950, 2009) contains photographs of the Gellman family at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada during the mid-to-late 1940s. The Gellman family owned a pharmacy that was located in the Flamingo Hotel. Other materials in this collection include two postcards of the Flamingo Hotel and one Fred Harvey Hotel Locations (California to Kansas) postcard. Also included is a newspaper clipping of the "House That Bugsy Built" article from the Las Vegas Review-Journal from 2009.

Abstract

The Agnes Lynch Photograph Collection on Pahrump, Nevada contains black-and-white and color photographic prints of people and landscapes in and around Pahrump, Nevada from approximately 1979 to 1989. The collection includes images of political rallies held by candidates for Nye County Commissioner, Pahrump Valley High School graduating classes, and Nevada Governor Robert List. Also included are images of the Valley View Plaza, roads surrounding Pahrump, and the Nye County Complex, which housed the fire and sheriff's departments, ambulance services, and the public library.

The Frank Benham Photograph Collection on Goldfield, Nevada (1900s-1947) primarily contains black-and-white photographic prints of buildings and people in Goldfield, Nevada. Also included in the collection are black-and-white photographic prints of nearby mining towns, as well as postcards and one negative. Frank Benham co-owned a real estate business and served as assistant postmaster for Goldfield in the early 1900s.

Abstract

The L. F. Manis Photographs contain photographic prints, photographic slides, and photographic negatives depicting Southern Nevada from approximately 1900 to 1969, with a bulk of the materials dating from 1930 to 1940. The photographs primarily depict the construction, dedication, and various parts of the Hoover (Boulder) Dam, including the dam's upstream and downstream faces, intake towers, spillways, bridges, crest, outlet works, visitors' accommodations, and powerhouse. The photographs also depict Lake Mead, the reservoir created by the Hoover Dam, and the Colorado River, which is dammed by the Hoover Dam. The photographs also include views of desert landscapes in the Southwestern United States, including in Nevada, Arizona, and Southern California. Also depicted in the photographs are the cities of Las Vegas, Nevada and Boulder City, Nevada, including prominent buildings like hotels, casinos, government buildings, and train depots.
