Richard "Dick" Blackburn Taylor was a prominent businessman in Las Vegas, Nevada and amateur historian of Southern Nevada. Taylor was born on January 31, 1929 in Quincy, Illinois and grew up in Glendale, California. After graduating high school in 1947, he attended Washington and Lee University, the University of Southern California, and the University of Hawaii. He served in the 4th Infantry Division of the United States Army in Germany during the occupation following WWII. In 1957, he married Charlene Flora Belknap and they had four children.

The affiliated and subsidiary companies sub-series (1930-1975) consist of corporate materials from companies associated with or operated beneath companies owned by Howard Hughes. These materials primarily include administrative records detailing the management of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and Hughes Aircraft Company (HAC). Materials for HHMI are dated from 1954 to 1962 and include reports, administrative correspondence, records of proceedings held with the United States Internal Revenue Service, and a manuscript of the institute’s goals and accomplishments. The HAC materials are dated from 1930 to 1975 and include a board-mounted floor plan for a temporary television studio, records from a congressional hearing regarding the HAC, reports for the development of high-speed cameras and a satellite, and schematic drawings for camera equipment.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Faculty Publications (1950-2008) is comprised of reports, scholarly journal articles, and books that were written by UNLV faculty and staff. Publications also include book reviews and conference presentations. Subjects include biology, chemistry, English, and sociology.
Archival Collection
The James B. McDaniel Records (1960-1978) comprise the plans and drawings created by Las Vegas, Nevada architect James McDaniel who worked independently as James Brooks McDaniel Architect (from 1960-1978) and with a partner as Moffitt and McDaniel Architects, Limited (during the 1970s). This collection includes materials from over 115 projects managed by McDaniel. Records include oversized architectural drawings, and files of architectural projects. McDaniel designed many University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) buildings, residential, commercial, and landscape designs for Las Vegas clients. Also included are business files of construction estimates, specifications, invoices, change orders, and correspondence.
Archival Collection
The D. Kenneth Richardson Papers on the Hughes Aircraft Company (1950-2011) contains correspondence, speeches, photographs, Hughes Aircraft Company executive meeting notes, and various publications from Hughes Aircraft Company and other aeronautical companies. Also included are published papers written by Richardson and a productivity study published by the Hughes Aircraft Company.
