Description

Sign details: This location opened in 1991 and is considered a locals casino. They have a similar train station theme to a few of the other Stations Casino properties used to have. This location also holds a movie theater.
Sign condition: 5- still in very good condition and lights up very brightly at night still
Sign form: Pylon, Porte cochere and semi-decorated shed
Sign-specific description: The main pylon sign has a two white steel bases with a reader board on the bottom, a plasma t.v. screen on top of the reader board and the main portion of the sign with their logo above. Their main logo is a green train front with a yellow neon trim with curved maroon ovals on it stating "Boulder Station" and "Hotel-Casino" underneath it in channeled white letters that contain flashing incandescent. The porte cochere sign above their valet is in a rainbow shape stating "Boulder Station" in sparkling incandescent. With red letters underneath stating "Hotel" in red neon. Also on the main hotel tower there are the same "Boulder Station" letters in incandescent lights outlined in red neon as well. Also the word "Casino" is also in incandescent lights on the side of the building. There are also LED lights that are chasing outlining the whole building making a semi-decorated shed look.

Sign - thematic influences: Their train theme is portrayed well in their pylon sign. Also the train theme could be considered an homage to early Vegas history as a railroad stop.
Sign - artistic significance: The pylon sign is very similar to the Fiesta Rancho sign which is also a station casino with the reader board and plasma screen. This sign is almost identical in design to the old Palace Station sign.

Abstract

The Christie Young Papers are comprised of Young's personal papers and journals between 1982 and 2011. These journals document Young's arrival to Las Vegas, Nevada and her involvement in several nascent Las Vegas lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) organizations from 1982 to 1985 such as UNLV's Lesbian and Gay Academic Union (LGAU). The collection also includes materials related to her life in San Diego from 1985 to 1995. The collection also includes typed transcripts of all journal entries that relate to the Las Vegas LGBTQ community.

Abstract

The Willard H. George Furrier, Ltd. Scrapbooks are comprised primarily of three leatherbound scrapbooks containing black-and-white and sepia toned photographs taken from the 1920s through 1955. The scrapbooks feature actresses from Hollywood, California wearing furs designed and created by furrier Willard H. George. Actresses of note include Lucille Ball, Rita Hayworth, and Greta Garbo.

Abstract

The Southern Nevada Historical Society Records document the management and development of the Southern Nevada Historical Society (SNHS) as well as various historical projects in Las Vegas and Southern Nevada that the society sponsored from 1948 to 1983. The records include SNHS correspondence (1951-1978), meeting minutes (1958-1983), and accounting information (1959-1980). It also contains copies of the SNHS Backtrails Newsletter, promotional material for events, membership lists, and research materials for various projects related to the history of southern Nevada and Las Vegas.

The Cork Proctor Photograph Collection (1960s-1980s) primarily contains black-and-white photographic reproductions of early Las Vegas, Nevada; the Cal-Neva Lodge at Lake Tahoe, Nevada; and various celebrities. The collection also includes black-and-white photographic prints of the Helldorado Parade. Cork Proctor was a comedian who performed throughout Nevada and the United States.

Also included in the collection are photographic prints of UNLV merchandise, faculty, staff, students, and alumni, as well as subject files with correspondence, reports, brochures, university anniversary planning documents, promotional materials, meeting minutes, and newspaper clippings. Abstract

The Southern Nevada Women's Political Caucus Records (1981-1992) document a chapter of the National Women's Political Caucus. It was active in child care issues and in aiding women who aspired to be elected to public office. Included are chapter bylaws, minutes, newsletters, and information on local child care and the Act for Better Child Care Services of 1987. Also included are records of forums, conferences, dinners, newspaper advertisements, financial records, and membership information. There is national information, including a bumper sticker, and a poster.
