Oral history interview with Lupe Avelar conducted by Marcela Rodriguez-Campo and Maribel Estrada Calderón for the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. Lupe Avelar describes her life growing up in Durango, Mexico on a family farm and her immigration to New Mexico as a teen with her brother before returning back to Mexico. Lupe talks about her marriage to Eladio Avelar and how the couple eventually moved to California as well as her circumstances of moving to Las Vegas. Subjects discussed include: cotton fields; cotton farming.

John Klai II Papers

Abstract
The John Klai II Papers (1983-2024) is comprised of the personal papers of American architect, John Klai II. Materials include commendations presented to Klai for his achievements in the architecture and interior design profession from organizations like AIA Las Vegas; the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB); and the Nevada State Board of Architecture, Interior Design and Residential Design. The collection also includes digital images of plaques and trophies presented to Klai for his philanthrophic work in the Las Vegas community. The professional files in this collection include publications featuring the work of Klai Juba Wald architecture + interiors, Klai's 2015 AIA Fellowship submission portfolio, magazine features about Klai, and a commemorative photo book of Klai Hall at North Dakota State University. Also included are a small number of Klai's personal sports memorabilia, including tickets for the NCAA men's basketball tournaments from 1987 and 1989.

Oral history interview with Mirtha Rojas conducted by Marcela Rodriguez-Campo on December 6, 2018 the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada Oral History Project. Mirtha talks about her artistic upbringing in Cuba and how she immigrated to the Florida with her brother. She talks about relocating to Las Vegas in 2000, her membership with the Culinary Workers Union Local 226, and her employment as a guest room attendant and shop steward at the Aria Hotel and Casino.
