Southern Nevada Daughters of the American Revolution Records

Abstract

The Southern Nevada Daughters of the American Revolution Records primarily document the activities of three Southern Nevada chapters of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution from 1950 to 2024. The materials center around the records of three chapters from Southern Nevada: Old Spanish Trail, Francisco Garces, and Valley of Fire. Materials include administrative records, scrapbooks, photographs, news clippings, and correspondence about the activities of the Daughters of the American Revolution chapters. Mateirals also include some records and scrapbooks from the Nevada State Society of DAR.

Park Neighborhood. In this interview, Mooney, Huffey, Mack, Levine, and Giunchigliani discuss living in the John S. Park neighborhood in Las Vegas, Nevada. They talk about changes in the neighborhood, Huntridge Circle Park, and the Huntridge Theater. The participants describe the design of their houses, and house renovations done in the area.

The Samoset Chapter of the Colonial Dames XVII Century Records (1970-2022) consist of scrapbooks, volumes of meeting minutes and treasurer’s reports, and National Colonial Heritage Month proclamations from cities throughout Nevada. The materials document the Samoset (Las Vegas) Chapter’s activities, including chapter meetings, community service and events, gifts and scholarships, national and state conferences, and the chapter’s work to place a historic marker at Callville Bay, Lake Mead, Nevada.
