Cannon, Robert O.

Robert moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1941 for work-related purposes. He was an auditor for the El Rancho Vegas and has also worked as general manager for the Frontier and Tropicana hotels on the Strip. He also was on the Board of Directors at the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Convention Authority.

The proposed water district would probably have an easier time getting water from Lake Mead than the privately owned water company. "BCC -- E E Bennett" is written in pencil at the top. Memo has two date stamps from E.E.B. and U.P. R.R. Co. L.A. Law Department.

Lewis, Leo, 1930-2001

Leo Lewis was born August 24, 1930 in Long Island, New York. He held many positions in various Las Vegas, Nevada hotels and casinos, including the general manager of the Barbary Coast Hotel and Casino and a casino executive in Binion's Horseshoe Club. He retired in 1989, and later taught casino management in University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He assisted in the development of the College of Hotel Administration (William F. Harrah College of Hospitality) at UNLV. He died July 17, 2001.

Abstract

The Woodrow Wilson Photograph Collection consists of black-and-white photographic prints and negatives. The images depict black elected government leaders attending the first Conference of Black Elected Officials held in Washington, D.C. in September 1969. Of particular interest are images of Nevada's first black state legislator, Woodrow Wilson; Georgia state representative, Julian Bond; and President Richard Nixon.

Laughlin, Donald J., 1931-

Don Laughlin was born and raised on a farm seven miles northeast of Owatonna, Minnesota. In about 1953 he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. In about 1966, he moved to the area that is now Laughlin, Nevada and purchased what would become the Riverside Resort Hotel and Casino.
