Action Item: Discussion/Approval of adding rule 13 to the Senate Rules for the 28th session as follows: All senators must wear the CSUN Senator polo shirt provided for them by CSUN. They shall wear the polo shirts once every other week in a four-week month during the fall and spring sessions, as submitted by SENATOR KIMBROUGH; B. Action Item: Discussion/Approval of adding rule 14 to the Senate Rules for the 28th session as follows: All senators must attend and speak to their respective colleges during either the summer or spring orientations. Move into a vote. Motion passes 21-0-1. (SENATOR CECI abstained.) IV. ANNOUNCEMENTS: SENATE PRESIDENT PRO-TEMPORE TRUJILLO stated that they will have a Senate caucus after the elections are done. It will be a good opportunity to discuss some goals for the new Executive Board. SENATE PRESIDENT MOORE stated that the Health Sciences seat will be on the next agenda. He has received two nominees and they are there tonight to introduce themselves. V. BOARD AND COMMITTEE REPORTS: A. Senate Committee Reports: 1. SENATOR ZARANTI stated that he put a memo in the senator's boxes to let them know what the Rebel Yell Advisory Board is about. 2. SENATOR KIMBROUGH stated that if a senator has a problem with someone during one of the meetings, they need to talk to him or submit something to him. 3. SENATOR FISK stated that he still needs information from three members of his committee and would like it by the end of the week. 4. SENATOR SHAPIRO stated that Ways and Means met today. B. Faculty Senate/University Committee Reports: C. Director Reports: 1. VICE PRESIDENT VALERA stated that NSA DIRECTOR CONTINE is sick. 2. Elections Board DIRECTOR FLEISCHMAN stated that she is sick and will be leaving. The Rebel Yell was supposed to put in the candidate's bios but they have not done so. The debate is Tuesday at 11:30 and there is a mistake on the fliers. It will be in the amphitheater or in the alcove depending on the weather. She thanked SENATOR SHAPIRO and the other senators who helped post up the fliers. 2 SENATE MINUTES 28-16/ March 30, 1998 On April 1st there is free pizza and a band at 11:00. On April 2nd, the winners will be announced at 9 p.m. A question about Homecoming will be on the ballot. 3. O-BOARD ASSISTANT DIRECTOR DORSEY stated that the funding requests on the agenda are important and these people have been waiting for a long time to get their money. 4. E & P ASSISTANT DIRECTOR HIRSCHTRITT passed out an updated budget sheet for REBELPALOOZA. He stated that their meeting today went well and he showed the senate the flier. He will be putting them up over spring break because they are waiting for one more band to be confirmed. There were several questions and discussion. 5. OSI - VICE PRESIDENT VALERA stated that the organizations are on the web page. Fliers for the Director positions will go up on Thursday. The T-shirts and the survey will be ready by the end of this week. The open Senate seats will be advertised after the elections. SENATE PRESIDENT MOORE stated that they have a flier made already. D. Residence Hall Liaison Report: JENNIFER PECK stated that their program last week went well. RHA is co-sponsoring Hillel's holocaust remembrance. Their Executive Board interviews were completed last week. They are having a capture the flag light stick program this week. She also congratulated the Hotel College on the success of UNLVino. E. Student Athlete Advisory Board Liaison Report: DARON DORSEY stated that we will get lots of money if Utah wins tonight. The next meeting is Tuesday, April 14th, after spring break. They are trying to set up a new outreach program by the end of the year. SENATOR KAWAZOE clarified if the meeting is at 7 p.m. F. Ethnic Student Council Liaison Report: ANN YU stated that their next meeting April 2nd at 9 p.m. Their new Executive Board will be elected. Their banquet is on April 29th and all of CSUN is invited to attend. They will be recognizing some organizations for their programming throughout the year. G. Business Manager Report: 3 SENATE MINUTES 28-16/ March 30, 1998 BUSINESS MANAGER JIM MOORE stated that tomorrow is payday. He read the expenditures for the week: $47.00 to Sparkletts for water, $195.00 to replace the stationary for the Senate President, and $100.00 sponsorship for the AFAN walk. SENATE PRESIDENT MOORE stated that this stationary is not going to disappear. VI. UNFINISHED BUSINESS VII. NEW BUSINESS SENATOR KIMBROUGH made a motion to move out of the order of the day to Item E, seconded by SENATOR MILMEISTER. Move into a vote. Motion passes 22-0-0. E. Action Item: Discussion/Approval of Co-sponsoring the Ethics Program with the Hank Greenspun School of Communication, by encumbering 1,422 dollars. Costs are to be encumbered out of the 2702 General Account, as submitted by SENATOR KIMBROUGH; Motion to approve made by SENATOR KIMBROUGH, seconded by SENATOR ZARANTI. Move into a vote. Motion passes 22-0-0. F. Action Item: Discussion/Approval of a funding request for Sigma Gamma Epsilon in the amount of $41.18; Motion to approve made by SENATOR MILMEISTER, seconded by SENATOR LEHMAN. Move into a vote.
