Omer C. Stewart (1908-1991) was Professor Emeritus of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado and a renowned scholar of indigenous religions, particularly peyotism. He was also an outspoken advocate for the indigenous nations of the United States. Omer C. Stewart and Martha C. Knack wrote a book together in 1984 titled As Long as the River Shall Run: An Ethnohistory of Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation.

Notable film composer Victor Young was born on August 8, 1900 in Chicago, Illinois. Young studied under Ididor Lotto in Warsaw, Poland at the age of 10. After returning to the United States, he began performing as concertmaster in the LA Theatre and the Central Park Theater. He then joined Ted Fiorito becoming a violinist and arranger. Young directed radio programs until he moved to Los Angeles, California to create his own orchestra.

Paul Marquardt was a German composer, arranger, and orchestrator, known for writing film scores between the late 1920s and 1950s including The Wizard of Oz (1939) and It's a Wonderful Life (1946). He also wrote compositions for Howard Hughes-produced Jet Pilot (1957).

American cinematographer Harry Frank Perry was born on May 2, 1888, the fifth of seven children born to Fannie Teter and Henry Perry in Idana, Kansas. He married Fern Frost Strange on July 29, 1921, and the couple had three children, Harry Frank Perry Jr., Thomas Leon Perry, and John Richard Perry. Perry is most well known for his work on aerial cinematic sequences in Wings (1927) and Howard Hughes' Hell's Angels (1930), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He died on February 9, 1985 in Los Angeles, California.
