Mamakos, Peter, 1918-2008

Peter John Mamakos is an American actor of Greek descent known for playing antagonistic roles in film and television between the 1940s and 1980s. In these roles, he often portrayed Greek, Indian, Hispanic, French, Italian and Middle Eastern characters. Mamakos was born on December 14, 1918 in Somerville, Massachusetts to Bessie J. Moraites and John Demitri Mamakos. He is first known to appear as an uncredited crossbow soldier in the film Bride of Vengeance (1949), and later appeared in the Howard Hughes-produced film The Conqueror (1956) as Bogurchi. His last known role was as a Greek priest in the television mini series Lucky Chances.

He died on April 27, 2008 in Paso Robles, California.
