Abstract

The Rudolf Stuebing Photographs (approximately 1960-1969) consist of ten color positive mounted slides depicting Las Vegas' Fremont Street and the Stardust Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Four additional color photographs depict the Hoover Dam. All images were taken by Rudolf Stuebing on a visit to the United States in the 1960s.

Abstract

The E. W. Smith Glass Plate Negatives (approximately 1900-1916) contain original glass plate negatives created by E. W. Smith during his time in Tonopah, Manhattan, Goldfield, and other central Nevada mining towns in the early 1900s. All photographs are presumed to be taken by E. W. Smith unless noted otherwise in the inventory. The negatives were collected by Warren Virgil "Mac" McGowan, who along with his wife Hilda lived in Tonopah, Nevada from approximately 1930 to the 1960s. He was the town photographer and ran a store and boarding house located at what is now 111 N. Main Street in Tonopah.

The Ken Easley Photographs for Del Webb Corporation in Nevada (approximately 1979-1988) consist of photographic slides, transparencies, prints, contact sheets, and negatives depicting various Del Webb Corporation properties throughout Nevada, including the Nevada Club Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, The Mint Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the High Sierra Hotel and Casino (formerly Del Webb’s Sahara Tahoe) in Stateline, and the master-planned development of Sun City Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. The photographs document interiors, exteriors, and signage; restaurants, bars, and lounges; gaming activities; and promotions and events.

The Robert Scott Hooper Photographs (approximately 1960-2019) consist of photographic negatives, positives, prints, Polaroids, 16mm films, videos, business records, correspondence, drawings, and ephemera. The collection was created by prolific photographer Robert Scott Hooper and his longtime business partner and wife, Theresa Holmes. The couple's life and business was based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hooper's work focused on the female form, encompassing many areas of interest including sexual entertainment, modeling, pornography, and Las Vegas entertainment. Hooper was a contributing photographer with Playboy and Vegas Visitor magazines. Hooper also photographed many celebrities, Las Vegas production shows, notable events like hotel implosions, and the development of the Las Vegas Strip, including early time-lapse work on the Luxor Hotel and Casino and The Venetian. This collection also includes business records, model contracts, and correspondence.
