Rudolf Stuebing Photographs (PH-00368)

Abstract

The Rudolf Schroeder Photographs (approximately 1960-1969) consist of ten color positive mounted slides depicting Las Vegas' Fremont Street and the Stardust Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Four additional color photographs depict the Hoover Dam. All images were taken by Rudolf Stuebing on a visit to the United States in the 1960s.

Biographical / Historical Note

Rudolf Oscar Stuebing was born on August 17, 1909 in Braunschweig, Germany. After the Second World War, he worked as a businessman and entrepreneur in the photography and literature distribution sector in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Belgium. His company was based in Bielefeld, Germany, in the north-eastern part of the German state of North-Rhine Westphalia. In the mid-1960s, Stuebing visited the United States, spending time in Nevada and California with a good friend. Stuebing passed away in Bielefeld, Germany, on November 16, 1983. He was survived by his wife and four children.
