Frank Gagliardi Music Manuscript Collection

Abstract

The Frank Gagliardi Music Manuscript Collection (approximately 1964-1974) contains musical arrangements of standard Frank Sinatra songs, printed or photocopied with annotations. Each part is in its own folder, and each song is numbered. Frank Gagliardi performed as percussionist in Antonio Morelli's orchestra for the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he played for Frank Sinatra and other notable entertainers during the 1960s and 1970s.

Hollywood Gambling Movie Poster Collection

Abstract

The Hollywood Gambling Movie Poster Collection (1934-1997) contains film posters, lobby cards, and photographic prints that feature gambling, casinos, or Las Vegas, Nevada. The posters were collected by Steve Lott, CEO of the Boxing Hall of Fame, and include four different sizes including one-sheet posters, three-sheet posters, lobby cards, and 8" x 10" film stills. The majority of the posters feature films produced from the 1940s to the 1960s including Casablanca, Flame of Barbary Coast, Mississippi Gambler, and Frontier Gambler.

Barbara Cloud Personal Papers

Abstract

The Barbara Cloud Personal Papers date from approximately 1880 to 2004 and consist of Cloud's personal research into her family history, as well as her early work as a graduate student at the University of Washington. The collection contains Cloud's thesis manuscript, published doctoral dissertation, and an award given to Cloud by Washington State Historical Society. Materials also include reproductions of family photographs, research files, copies of J. A. Slover's autobiography later published by Cloud and her mother, and Slover's original handwritten autobiography from 1907.

Abstract

The Las Vegas LGBTQ Community Center of Southern Nevada Audiovisual Collection contains seventeen VHS tapes which contain recordings of "Beyond the Rainbow" a Gay and Lesbian Center of Southern Nevada Cable show; the LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada 1998 and 1999 Honorariums; and news program relating to "Pride Ride 2000." "Beyond the Rainbow" was a weekly cable show sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada created not just to reach the LGBTQ+ community, but anyone interested in learning more about the community and the issues faced by its members. Programming explored a number of topics including employment, personal safety, families, relationships, diversity, and spirituality.

Catherine Compton Scrapbook Pages

Abstract

The Catherine Compton Scrapbook Pages (1945) contain pages from Catherine Compton's scrapbook documenting the period of time she lived in Las Vegas, Nevada from April to July 1945 with her husband Ross when he attended the B-29 Flexible Gunnery School as part of his training assignments with the U.S. Army Air Corps. The materials include a postcard and dinner menu from the Hotel Last Frontier where the Comptons celebrated their first anniversary dinner. The scrapbook pages include postcards for locations the couple visited around Southern Nevada including Fremont Street, the Union Depot, and the Boulder Dam. Also included is a newspaper clipping and ribbon from the annual Helldorado Days Parade and two photograph reproductions of the Comptons.

Lido de Paris Costume Designs

Abstract

The Lido de Paris Costume Designs contain 29 full color costume designs likely created for the Lido de Paris show in Paris, France which ran during the 1950s and 1960s. The designs are unsigned, but likely created by costume designer Louis Folco. Some designs match costumes worn in the 1956 "C'est Magnifique" show.

Chip Mosher Literary Papers

Abstract

The Chip Mosher Literary Papers (approximately 2005 to 2018) contain copies of mainly short stories written by Las Vegas, Nevada educator, poet, author, and newspaper columnist, Charles Jon "Chip" Mosher. The materials include examples of Mosher's fiction and a copy of The Anarchy of Memories: short fiction featuring Las Vegas icons which includes a chapter written by Mosher entitled "Memories of a Modern Woman in the Modern World." Also included is a copy of America, Please!, an audio disc which contains spoken word poetry and one science fiction short story authored by Mosher. The Republican Women of Southern Nevada Political Action Committee Records (2012-2016) contain committee and financial records of the Republican Women of Southern Nevada Political Action Committee (RWSN PAC). The majority of the materials are representative of Priscilla Campbell's time as treasurer of RWSN PAC. Materials include campaign contribution reports, financial statements, meeting agendas and minutes, and souvenir programs for the organization's annual gala.
