The Bob Stoldal Collection of Nevada Menus (1930-2000) contains the personal menu collection of Bob Stoldal. The materials include menus and placemats from various Las Vegas, Nevada hotels and restaurants such as Castaways, Desert Inn, El Cortez, Flamingo, and Showboat. The collection also includes menus from restaurants throughout Nevada, such as in Fallon, Hawthorne, Reno, and Mesquite. Though various locations throughout Nevada are represented, emphasis is on Las Vegas, Nevada. Menus are from restaurants in Las Vegas, Nevada unless otherwise noted. This collection also contains digital scans of the menu covers.

Biographical / Historical Note
A longtime resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, Bob Stoldal has been widely recognized as a local newsman and historian. In 1967, he was hired at KLAS-TV as a news anchor and reporter, where he was promoted to News Director in 1968. He retired from KLAS-TV Channel 8 in 2008, and decided to dedicate his time to the distribution of historical information and interpretation in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Stoldal is Chairman of the Board for the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society as well as the City of Las Vegas Historical Preservation Commission. He also serves on the Nevada State Commission on Cultural Affairs, the Board of Preserve Nevada, and the Board of Directors of the Mob Museum. Stoldal has collected thousands of postcards from the history of the City of Las Vegas, in addition to ephemera from local hotels and casinos such as the Moulin Rouge. Stoldal’s goal is to display a history of Las Vegas that depicts more than political figures, and highlights the more common, everyday life in the city of Las Vegas.
