Abstract

Oral history interview with Gilbert and Edythe Katz Yarchever conducted on February 13, 2006 by Michael Geeser for the I Remember When: Recollections from Jewish Las Vegas Leaders Oral History Project sponsored by the Congregation Ner Tamid and the Las Vegas, Nevada Centennial Committee. In this interview, the Yarchevers talk about their roles in World War II and their involvement in the early history of Jewish temples in Las Vegas, Nevada. Edythe discusses her first husband's work on desegregation and her efforts in Holocaust education.

Home Means Nevada: Folklife in the Silver State oral history interviews

Abstract

The interviews in this original radio series were produced by the Folk Arts Program of the Nevada Arts Council (then Nevada State Council on the Arts) in 1986, in partnership with KUNR (Reno), KNPR (Las Vegas) and KOLO (Reno), and with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the State of Nevada. Scripting, editing, photography, and production were by folklorist Blanton Owen. Narration was by Deb Spring, KOLO Radio (Reno). The series consists of thirteen short segments documenting aspects of the traditional life and crafts of Nevada residents.

Susan and Irwin Molasky oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Susan and Irwin Molasky conducted by Michael Geeser on May 15, 2006 for the I Remember When: Recollections from Las Vegas Jewish Leaders Oral History Project. They talk about the founding of the Nathan Adelson Hospice and about the Jewish community in Las Vegas, Nevada. Irwin talks about building the first high-rise condominium and the first high-rise office building in Las Vegas, about building Sunrise Hospital and Boulevard Mall, about the future of Las Vegas, light rail in the city, and the Las Vegas downtown and its future.

Robin Leach Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Audiovisual Collection

Abstract

The Robin Leach Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Audiovisual Collection (1984-1999) is comprised of 25 boxes of VHS tapes that contain recordings of various television shows produced and hosted by Robin Leach. Primarily, they consist of episode tapings of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous (1984-1999), which showcased wealthy lifestyles and featured hundreds of notable guests, such as Princess Diana, Liberace, Donald Trump, Michael Jackson, and Audrey Hepburn.

Blackstone Edge Studios Collection

Abstract

The Blackstone Edge Studios Collection (1974, 1980-1985) contains one 16mm film of locations around Las Vegas, Nevada produced by Blackstone Edge Studios. Footage was filmed by Philip Clayton-Thompson who is a co-owner, director, and producer for Blackstone Edge Studios. Also included are photographic transparencies and prints of the Primadonna Monorail, constructed by VSL Corporation at the Primadonna Hotel and Casino in Stateline (now Primm), Nevada.
