Roger Bryan oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Roger Bryan conducted by Paul Murphy on February 27, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Bryan, who was the principal of Harvey Dondero Elementary School at the time of the interview, mainly discusses his background in education and his experiences teaching at various schools around Southern Nevada. Bryan mentions several of the cities he lived in prior to coming to Las Vegas, Nevada as well as the various parts of town he lived in after arriving.

D. D. Cotton oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with D. D. (Ethel Dolores) Cotton conducted by Claytee White on February 14, 1997 and March 21, 1997 for the Women's Research Institute of Nevada (WRIN) Las Vegas Women Oral History Project. In this interview, Cotton discusses the beginnings of her dance career in New York City, New York. Later in the interview, Cotton discusses working in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Cotton Club and her interactions with other African American entertainers. Cotton also discusses race relations and her experiences as an African American dancer in Las Vegas.

Bryan also discusses her family’s involvement in the soda bottling industry and eventual involvement in real estate.

Spire Bruner discusses her husband Elmo Bruner's career as an architect and appraiser in Las Vegas, Nevada from, 1947 to 1973, World War II, her religious affiliation with the Unitarian Fellowship Church, and her involvement with organizations such as American Institute of Architects, engineering societies and architectural registration and examination boards.

David Broxterman oral history interview

David Broxterman discusses having a long career with the Air Force including being a member of an Air Force association that helped push for an engineering school at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He also discusses being the administrative manager for the Clark County School District.
