Abstract

Oral history interview with Gertrude Rudiak conducted by Claytee D. White on January 11, 2007 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Rudiak discusses her personal history and being a member of the Jewish community of Las Vegas, Nevada. She describes her husband being stationed in Las Vegas while serving in the United States military, their move to Las Vegas in the 1940s, and his law career after military service.

Perry Rogers oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Perry Rogers conducted by Patrick Carlton on March 25, 2003 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Rogers discusses being the president of Agassi Enterprises and the Andre Agassi Foundation. Rogers explains why he and Andre Agassi wanted to found an educational program to help disadvantaged youths in the Las Vegas, Nevada community in 1993. Rogers also discusses how they came to choose Wayne Tanaka to be the principal of the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy and the need for education reform in the United States.

Roberts opens her interview by discussing her family's history in Las Vegas, Nevada starting in 1969. Roberts then explains running her franchise business, Dream Dinners, a family meal preparation company. She discusses how the business works, their customers, and the benefits of using the service. She then talks about her childhood in Las Vegas, growing up on the Westside, and how in the 1970s Las Vegas was still underdeveloped.

Sonny Richardson oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Sonny Richardson conducted by an unknown interviewer on January 23, 2007 for the History of Blue Diamond Village in Nevada Oral History Project. Richardson opens his interview by discussing moving to Blue Diamond, Nevada in the 1940s to work at the Blue Diamond gypsum processing plant. He recalls returning to Blue Diamond after World War II and moving back and forth from Las Vegas, Nevada to Blue Diamond throughout the years. He recalls the families that lived in Blue Diamond, the layout of the town, and the recreation activities in the area.

Bill Richardson oral history interview

Abstract

Oral history interview with Bill Richardson conducted by Gretchen Schroeder on May 10, 2008 for the History of Blue Diamond Village in Nevada Oral History Project. In this interview, Richardson discusses living in Nelson, Nevada and later moving to Blue Diamond Village, Nevada where his father worked in the mines. He describes education in the Village and the homes that were built there. Later, Richardson talks about his father’s lumberyard, which received lumber from Mount Charleston, and Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1940s.

Rhea discusses her birth in Fairmont, West Virginia, as well as her nursing education. She describes serving in France during World War II as a nurse. She details moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1949, and then to the Blue Diamond, Nevada in approximately 1952. She describes the post office, shopping locations, and her neighbors in the Village.

In these interviews, Ravanipur discusses her upbringing in Iran, her experience of the Iranian Revolution, and her writing, which ranges from fiction to autobiographical. Ravanipur describes living by the sea in the Persian Gulf, and how the religious beliefs of the people in that area differed from those of the Islamic Republic and the rest of Iran.

Ravenholt talks about arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1963, working as Clark County, Nevada's first Chief Health Officer, and establishing a health center at 2nd Street and Stewart Street.
