Two student activity field notebooks were developed for the Canyonland Field Institute for use on their CFI-lead elementary and secondary school trips. The illustrated notebooks created for an instructor-guided student activity book that encouraged scientific observation and journaling. It provided an engaging place to record the days observations about weather, local plants and animals, cultural history and geology of the Colorado Plateau region with an emphasis on the riparian and upland areas. The Canyonlands Field Institute (CFI) River Journal Field Notebook was created in 2008 and revised in 2010 by Schafer/Skydance Studio in collaboration with the Canyonlands Field Institute, Moab, Utah. It was created for use used on CFI-lead elementary and secondary school rafting trips on the Colorado River. The Canyonlands Field Institute (CFI) Canyon Edge Field Notebook was created in 2012 as an engaging journal for use on CFI-lead elementary and secondary school land-based field trips and nature camps held at Professor Valley Field Camp, Professor Valley, Utah.
